International audience; Secreted proteins are key players in fungal physiology and cell protection against external stressing agents and antifungals. Oak stress-induced protein 1 (OSIP1) is a fungal-specific protein with unknown function. By using Podospora anserina and Phanerochaete chrysosporium as models, we combined both in vivo functional approaches and biophysical characterization of OSIP1 recombinant protein. The P. anserina OSIP1(Delta) mutant showed an increased sensitivity to the antifungal caspofungin compared to the wild type. Drawing conclusions about what co-participants know: Knowledge-probing question–answer sequences in new employee orientation lectures

This study aims to uncover the processes of interaction through which knowledge acquisition in new employee orientation is monitored and controlled. Using video-recordings of orientation lectures as data, the study focuses on question–answer sequences in which the lecturer’s question probes into the state of the employees’ knowledge; in particular, it looks at the third turn of the sequence, in which the lecturer comes to a conclusion concerning the participants’ knowledge. Do you know what you are reading for? Exploring the effects of a task model enhancement on fifth graders' purposeful reading

International audience; Background: Drawing on theories of purposeful reading, this study explored task conditions that support fifth graders' selective reading of documents in order to answer questions. More specifically, we investigated whether promoting students' elaboration of their task model increases task performance. Methods: Participants had to answer series of questions by searching documents for the relevant information. Half the participants received a task model prompt, and half received a control prompt. Valoración, afrontamiento y ansiedad a la hora de dejar de fumar

El objetivo de este estudio consiste en analizar la valoración (appraisal) cognitiva y los tipos de afrontamiento que adoptan las personas a la hora de dejar de fumar. El instrumento de evaluación utilizado en una muestra de 107 estudiantes es el Inventario de Valoración y Afrontamiento (IVA), diseñado a partir del modelo de la valoración de Lazarus y Folkman (1986). El IVA consta de tres subescalas de valoración (amenaza, desafío e irrelevante) y seis subescalas de afrontamiento (cognitivo y conductual-motor dirigido a cambiar la situación, cognitivo y conductual-motor dirigido a reducir la emoción, pasivo y evitativo).
